Oscar began his career at Capital Markets Authority (CMA), Kenya as a Legal Assistant in the Licensing and Approvals Department where he was engaged in: review of applications for licensing including applications by Securities and Derivative Exchanges, Investment Banks, Fund Managers, Stockbrokers, Investment Advisers, Authorized Depositories, Collective Investment Schemes, and Real Estate Investment Schemes; review of applications for approvals for issue and/or listing of securities and private transfers; legal compliance review of applications for various approvals such as rights issues, share splits, mergers & acquisitions, shareholder circulars, bonus issues and private transfers; review of notices, announcements and advertisements by market intermediaries, listed companies to assess their suitability for publication; and fit and proper assessments of directors and key personnel of market intermediaries to determine compliance with corporate governance requirements.

Oscar successfully completed his pupillage at the firm of Muma & Kanjama Advocates. He joined the Firm’s Commercial Department upon admission to the bar as an Associate and rose through the ranks to become Senior Associate and Department Lead, Commercial Department. Oscar left Muma & Kanjama Advocates after 7 years at the Firm to join KKN Law LLP Advocates as Partner.

  • Successfully prepared comprehensive service and management agreements including software management agreements for a number of companies in the telecommunications and IT sector.
  • Negotiated and structured development financing through joint venture agreements and set up of special purpose vehicles (SPVs) for land owners and developers.
  • Successfully structured numerous organizations including incorporation and restructuring of sole proprietorships (business names), partnerships, companies including successful start-ups, trusts, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), societies and foundations among others.
